Juan Araujo
フアン・アラウホ
Born 1971 in Caracas, Venezuela. Lives in Caracas. Araujo assembles together the pages of paintings and photographic collections. He creates paintings of paintings and images of images. While making references to the traditional Western trompe-l'oeil and modernism and the painting theories that have come since, he challenges painting systems with layered expressions of reproduced paintings that are further reproduced, based on originality. After his research on the Imperial Hotel designed by F. L. Wright, the entrance lobby of which was saved and reconstructed at the Meiji Mura architecture museum in Nagoya, he creates and shows a series of paintings, copying the museum's catalogs at this time.
