Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture and currently based in Tokyo. One of the leading choreographers and dancers on the Japanese contemporary dance scene, Hirayama combines outstanding physical ability with a subtle yet dynamic expressiveness. She has been involved in numerous performances that transcend different genres of dance, choreographing Svetlana Zakharova in performances by the Bolshoi Ballet, and collaborating on LED light art pieces with Takuro Osaka. For the Aichi Triennale, Hirayama will stage a performance at the Kawabun, a traditional Japanese "ryotei" restaurant located in the Choja-machi area. The event will begin with tea and refreshments, after which a dance performance will be held.
