Filmmaker born in Tokyo in 1947. Active in Tokyo. Since the 1960s, Okuyama has consistently focused on the materiality of film, the act of its projection and the various structures governed by its processes and mechanisms in order to produce experimental works that explore the essential nature of the film medium. A unique strain of humor runs through his films, and marks the independent stance.
