Film director. Apichatpong Weerasethakul was born in Bangkok in 1970. Active in Chiang Mai. Weerasethakul creates films, video works and photographs using a distinctive approach that intentionally blurs the border between documentary and fiction. He became the first Thai director to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival this year. He has also participated in a number of international art exhibitions.
