Yornel MARTÍNEZ

Born 1981 in Manzanillo, Cuba
Based in Havana, Cuba

His works goes from drawing to installation playing with a lot of references. Postconceptual art has influenced him, especially with the use of text and poetry as tools to build the work. As the coordinator of collaborative project P350, the artist establishes a platform to present experimentations of multiple writers, poets, visual artists and other creators, opening up a shared space and boosting collective processes not only on the pages of the publication itself but also through exhibitions, readings, workshops and public interventions. Built with discarded cement bags, the issues are not for sale and circulate from hand to hand, questioning the core aspects of an editorial project: seriality, production and distribution networks, editorial boards. Yornel has exhibited locally and internationally, including the selection for the 12th Havana Biennial (2015).
