Shreyas KARLE

Born 1981 in Mumbai, India
Based in Mumbai, India

Shreyas Karle, along with Hemali Bhuta, established the Cona Foundation near Mumbai, and is a leading figure among Indian artists of his generation. Shreyas takes an intense interest in artistic practice in public spaces, and is engaged in art projects employing a wide range of media including sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, and video. He regards himself as a nomadic presence drifting from place to place and from idea to idea. During an overseas artist-in-residence program, he has explored the host community, making observations and compiling a “guidebook for artists-in-residence” based on his unique perspectives on what he discovered and encountered there. In recent years he has taken part in exhibitions including the 2nd New Museum Triennial 2015 (New York) and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2012 (India).
