OGAWA Iku

Born 1988 in Tokyo
Based in Tokyo

Graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design at Tama Art University in 2012. Studied illustration and hand-drawn animation at the same university. After entering the Department of Animation at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, he began creating stop-motion animation using puppets. Completed his studies at the Graduate School of Film and New Media in 2016.

Made as his graduation project and taking as its motif a Grimm’s fairy tale titled “The Strange Feast,” I think you’re a little confused is a unique piece of stop-motion animation in which sausages appear as the characters. Though at first glance it gives the impression of a work aimed at children, it skillfully incorporates horror movie touches in successfully conjuring a peculiar worldview interwoven with humor and tension. It also demonstrates a high degree of technical precision, a quality that helped earn it selection at this year’s International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
