Dani LIMA

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Dancer, choreographer. Lima graduated with a major in journalism from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. She formed the Dani Lima Company in 1997 and has been a member of the teaching staff of the dance department at Centro Universitário da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro since 2001. She earned her masters degree from Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro in 2007, and published her research in the book Body, politics and discourse in Lia Rodrigues’ dance. In addition to staging her productions throughout Brazil and abroad, she also collaborates with various other artists. She also teaches workshops and writes dance-related articles for a number of publications.
Lima takes as the subjects of her studies the body's expression in contemporary society, the relationship between self and other, memory and perception, compiled in what she calls “everyday life body poetics.”
At Aichi Triennale 2016, she will stage Little collection of everything, a work in which adults and children alike will have fun rediscovering the everyday objects and gestures that are part of playing.
