Company Didier THÉRON
Launched in 1987
Based in Montpellier, France
After initially teaching himself to dance, Théron then studied dance with Merce Cunningham, Dominique Bagouet, and Trisha Brown, and received the teachings of the Zen monk Tangen Harada in Japan. In 1987, he established his own dance company. His work, which represents the essence of various things such as the humor and insanity of human beings from within their controlled behavior, has attracted a great deal of attention in both the dance and theatre worlds, and he has received invitations from festivals all around the world.
At Aichi Triennale 2016, the streets of Nagoya will be the venue where Didier Théron and German costume designer Donald Becker present work from their “Gonflés” series as well as new work. The dancers will be dressed in inflated costumes as the happening-like performance unfolds amid the landscape of the city.
