Born in Kumamoto in 1980 and currently based in Osaka. Umeda works in a wide variety of fields both in Japan and abroad, creating sound-based works and spatial installations. For the Aichi Triennale, he will present a series of experimental installations and performances that make use of phenomena such as changes in atmospheric pressure and gravity, the rotational movement of electric fans and other household appliances, discarded articles, everyday items and flowing water.
