After obtaining a picture of a baby at one of the venues, a vacant shop space underneath Toyota City station, visitors travel back and forth between this and the second venue, Toyota City Plaza. This is how they participate in the work as "baby-sitters" who complete various tasks at each venue. "Shinkazoku" is the name of a group of Yuina Wada's painting students, nine female members of which each created one of the nine original baby pictures.
The work incorporates elements of succession through the viewers' involvement, as the data of these baby pictures - initially drawn based on the Shinkazoku members' own private experiences - are continuously modified and rewritten through the tasks they complete. Also displayed at Toyota City Plaza is a wall painting that contains elements related to local festivals and historical aspects of Toyota City and its once flourishing sericulture industry.
While primarily based on the traditional artistic format of painting, Wada's work can be understood as interactive art that leaves space for modification and succession through contributions from viewers by way of various assigned tasks.
WADA Yuina (Shinkazoku)

Wada Yuina received her B.F.A. from Nagoya University of the Arts's Oil Painting Course 2 and was part of the first graduating class of the Genron Chaos*Lounge New Art School. Her interest in kawaii culture has inspired her to create paintings that confront the audience like glittering gems, intricately composed with vivid colors. Wada runs the art class Home of Painting. In collaboration with her students, she put on the Shinkazoku (New, True and Evolving Family) exhibition, a project they have continued to pursue. The personal experiences and emotions of our acquaintances--as well as intimate relationships, including those between family members--constitute closed worlds. They consequently radiate a strong energy, which Wada captures in her work. The thoughtfulness of her ideas' elucidation and precision of her compositional logic can be seen in her research notes: a detailed log of her production process, which she exhibits along with her work.
