The Spaceship "7" is travelling through deep space far beyond the solar system. The nine crew members were all convicted of serious crimes and sentenced to death or life imprisonment. For their participation in an experiment conducted by Dr. Dibs, a mysterious scientist also on board, they have had their sentences commuted, but there is no guarantee they can return to Earth. With this premise we would ordinarily never imagine, combining felons and spacecraft, the film delves into the roots of various emotions such as jealousy, anger, and desire, and the characters reproduce and produce offspring without leaving the ultimate "locked room," leading us to question what defines a family. The contemporary artist Olafur Eliasson participated as an art director. This is Denis's first science fiction film and her first in English.
