THE WE-LOWS is a group created by Yoshitomo Nara, which he considered if he could create a work together with old friends and people around them who live in the place where the Triennale would take place. THE WE-LOWS is a hybrid name of a rock band “THE HIGH-LOWS,” whom Morikita who is a member of it respects, and Nagoya’s Japanese specialty confectionery “Uiro¯” created by Aoki. Their project, entitled “WE-LOW HOUSE,” originated from their renovation of a garage into a canteen called the Koshiba Shokudo and the WE-LOW Gallery. The canteen serves Koshiba Shokudo's homemade curry and other dishes, and the WE-LOW Gallery presents work by artists from Asia and Oceana who are friends with Nara.
