Born 1970 in Aichi Prefecture (Japan), based in Nagoya (Japan).
Sugito graduated with a degree in Japanese painting from the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in 1992. By the mid-1990s, recognition of his abilities led to a growing profile overseas. In 2001 he staged a solo show at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, and in 2006 "Focus," an exhibition at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Sugito was commuting frequently between Nagoya and Aomori in the preparation for show in conjunction with Jun Aoki scheduled for 2011 at the Aomori Museum of Art. That exhibition was canceled due to the Great East Japan earthquake, however a collection of recent works unveiled at the Kenji Taki Gallery in 2012 featured the Tohoku landscapes he observed during that period, and paintings from art museums he visited.
