Born 1972 in Rosenheim (Germany), based in Berlin.
Slotawa's distinctive style involves arranging things or re-arranging the context in which he is placed, without adding anything. His first series involved taking his personal effects to a gallery at an art museum and arranging them in the space. He also swapped items with an art museum, displaying his personal belongings in a gallery, and the exhibits from the gallery in his home. He has also produced a series of photographs that depicts the furniture of a hotel room re-arranged just for the time that he stayed there. A large-scale project involved re-arranging the public art installed in a public park so that it was lined up in order of size. For the Triennale, Slotawa will exhibit a series of film works in which the artist himself is running out of an art museum gallery and being timed like an athlete. The running artist brings a sense of movement and speed to the art museum, suggesting a completely new way of looking at the gallery.
