Born 1984 in Wisconsin (USA), based in Osaka (Japan).

Completed Master's course in Fine Art at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in 2011. Makes collages from images taken from the Internet and cut from magazines, painting his own enhancements around photographs that depict the real world to expand the image into something that never exists in reality. Arai works with diverse pictures, from news photographs to still shots from movies. He has even used coverage from the Great East Japan Earthquake. Sometimes the composite pictures carry some message about modern society; others adopt a more cynical perspective. Yet one thing he suggests in all of them is that the possibility always exists for real events to be warped by some strange power.
