A native of Hokkaido, Ando graduated in vocal music from the Kunitachi College of Music, and also went on to complete the school's graduate course in vocal music (opera). Completed the third annual Young Artists Training Programme at the New National Theatre Opera Studio. Studied in Italy under Paola Molinari, Sergio Bertocchi and others as an overseas trainee artist funded by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. In 2009, left a substantial impression on many as having the potential to become a prima donna in her performance as Violetta in director Amon Miyamoto's new production of La Traviata at the Tokyo Nikikai Opera. Performed as Elisabeth in the opera Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg, co-produced by the Biwako Hall Center for Performing Arts, Shiga and Kanagawa Prefectural Civic Hall in 2012. Scheduled to sing Violetta in La Traviata in another co-production by the Biwako Hall Center for Performing Arts, Shiga and Kanagawa Prefectural Civic Hall in 2013. She is a member of Nikikai.
