Art Playground OUTREACH

T40

Introduced for the first time at the Aichi Triennale 2019, Art Playgrounds are spaces that visitors can use to demonstrate their own creativity. They are installed at five exhibition venues, each dedicated to one of the five themes "Play," "Talk," "Create," "Interact" and "Outreach." These spaces function as platforms for visitors to respond naturally and in their own ways――through creation, self-expression, discussion or communication――to works shown at art festivals and exhibitions, and the inspiration they draw from such displays.

"Outreach" provides support for every visitor to the Aichi Triennale who wants to communicate something to other people. In the process of conveying their own experience of art to others, here visitors have the opportunity to relive, edit and formulate that experience. Social fragmentation is one aspect that defines the background against which "Taming Y/Our Passion" was chosen as the general theme for this Triennale. Information media such as social networks, zines and radio broadcasts, but also T-shirts, badges and other items may be helpful for overcoming this phenomenon of fragmentation and division of society.
