The Aichi Triennale Next Step Committee and Aichi Triennale Organizing Committee will jointly organize Aichi Triennale 2019 International Forum, Freedom of Expression and Art in "Taming Y/Our Passion". With reference to cases around the world, discussions will examine the issue of "freedom of expression" faced by Aichi Triennale 2019. The future targets and challenges will also be discussed.

Overall Chairperson: Michio Hayashi (Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Sophia University)
  Major: Art history/Art criticism
  Prof. Hayashi has been active both as a scholar and critic in the field of modern-contemporary art with special emphasis on postwar Japanese art. He has participated in collaborative projects with institutions such as MoMA (NY), the Tate Modern, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Theme: Freedom of Expression, Art and Society (TBC)
  Why are freedom of expression and artistic freedom important, and why must they be respected? With reference to cases around the world where freedom of expression or artistic freedom has been violated or jeopardized, including the current problems faced by the Aichi Triennale 2019, discussions will be made with input from artists and curators who participated in the event.

  While reviewing the artistic achievements and remaining issues of the Aichi Triennale 2019, the speakers will discuss ways to overcome the hardships faced by this event from an international perspective.

  Participants will be decided by drawing lots.
  Only those who are selected will be notified by e-mail to the address given on the application. Those who are not selected may not be allowed to participate. (If the number of applications does not reach the capacity, all applicants will be notified that they are permitted to participate.)

  Applications by phone will not be accepted.
  Only one person can apply per e-mail.
  Participants are advised to arrive at the venue as early as possible due to the time taken for security screening of bags before entering.
